As a leading provider of educational student travel, Educational Travel Adventures (ETA) recently acquired Sustainable Horizon (SH), the industry expert in international community service and cultural immersion programs.  The addition increases unique opportunities for schools to travel in the United States, Europe, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Australia, Asia and Africa.

SH programs areIMG_3576 designed for students to experience their destination at a local level through language and cultural immersion, community-driven service projects and education through the exploration of iconic destination highlights.  Participants will have a global experience in which they will not only gain a sense of awareness and respect for the natural world and the different cultures that inhabit it, but also immerse themselves in those cultures and give a helping hand to those in need.

Whether students are living with a rural Costa Rican families, teaching English to Mayan children in Guatemala, planting vegetable gardens in South Africa, building water collection tanks at an animal rescue center in Ecuador or building bridges in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, SH programs are meant to bring the classroom to life, challenging students to grow and learn outside of their comfort zones.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sustainable Horizon to the family,” stated Michael Holzer, General Manager of Educational Travel Adventures.  Holzer says, “The acquisition of Sustainable Horizon will promote global citizenship and cultural awareness to more and more students each year.  Our domestic trips offer incredible educational opportunities for students and we wanted to expand our offerings to include language immersion and service learning opportunities abroad.  The complementary program offerings of the two companies make this union a perfect match.” IMG_3837

Julian Jacobs, President and CEO of Sustainable Horizon says, “There are many similarities between the two organizations, and in coming together, ETA and SH are uniquely positioned to provide the full breadth of travel programs that any school may require.”

SH works directly with faculty and administrators to customize itineraries that fit the specific needs of each school. They understand that school schedules are very busy, and with their proven development method they are able to successfully take the weight of planning an international program off the shoulders of others.  From preprogram materials, video meetings, around the clock accessibility, in-country service and adventure activities and an always friendly staff, Sustainable Horizon offers an unparalleled experience that is said by many to be an all-around experience of a lifetime.
